FDOC employee, Luis Betancourt, was recently presented with NASA’s Silver Snoopy. The Silver Snoopy is one of NASA’s most prestigious awards and is presented to less than one percent of the NASA workforce annually. Luis was recognized for his contribution over the last several years in implementing commonality of the avionics models in the Shuttle Mission Training Facility (SMTF).  He did an exceptional job testing the models that consisted of the advanced malfunction capabilities from the Flight Operation Trainer (FOT) and the high fidelity model simulation from the Shuttle Mission Simulator (SMS).  Luis’ achievement has enabled the training customer to offload lessons from the expensive full task trainer to the more efficient Next Generation Flight Control Trainer (NGFCT) as well as streamline model development and enable off-line system testing.
