GrayHawk Global Corporation Highlights Employee Support of NASA’s Artemis II Mission

WEBSTER, Texas, June 2026 — GrayHawk Global (GHG) Corporation is proud to recognize the contributions of employee Seth Varnon in support of NASA’s Artemis II mission, the first crewed flight of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft and a major step in the nation’s return to crewed lunar exploration.

NASA’s Artemis II mission carried four astronauts around the Moon and back to Earth, helping test the systems, procedures, and operations needed for future Artemis missions. The mission represents a key milestone in NASA’s plan for sustained lunar exploration and future missions to Mars.

Varnon, an Engineer III supporting the Flight Dynamics Officer group, has been with GHG for nearly 11 years. For Artemis II, he supported the Day of Launch Initialization Load Update team from the Day of Launch (DOL) Operator console, where he helped execute the tools and processes used to prepare Space Launch System steering commands based on measured launch-day winds.

The Day of Launch Initialization Load Update (DOLILU) team plays an important role in helping minimize vehicle loads during ascent. Varnon’s work included running design tools, simulations, constraint checks, plotting tools, report generators, and file transfers between Mission Control Center and the broader cross-program team.

In the years leading up to Artemis II, Varnon also helped develop the Flight Operations Directorate team concept of operations, built software to automate key tasks, trained operators at the DOL Operator console, and earned a Lead DOLILU Officer certification.

“Watching the SLS core stage engines and boosters ignite was a surreal experience,” Varnon said. “There was an overwhelming sense of pride in the Blue Flight Control Room as we watched SLS carry the crew into orbit.”
